Administrative / Biographical History
Ivor Frederick Wentworth Schofield, CMG (1957) ED (1943), was born on the 5 July 1904. He was educated at King's School in Worcester and Hertford College, Oxford.
In 1927 Schofield joined the Colonial Administrative Service as a cadet in Nigeria, later serving as Resident (1949) and Administrative Officer, Staff Grade, in the Western Region (1954). In 1958 he was appointed Commissioner of the Inland Revenue in the Western Region; he retired in 1959 but was re-engaged on contract until December 1960. Over the next ten years Schofield worked in southern Cameroon, as Administrator of Income Tax (1960-1961), and in the Gambia, as Commissioner of Income Tax (1964-1966) and Adviser on Income Tax (1967-1970).
During World War II, he served with the Royal West African Frontier Force (1940-1942), and with the British Military Administration in Tripolitania (1942-1943) and in Dodecanese (1943-1945).
Schofield died on the 25 September 1979.
