Scope and Content

The papers held by the Library are Edwards' correspondence with Fabian Society members, of which he was a member after the Socialist Society was joined with the Fabian Society in the late 1800's. Joseph Edwards was the editor of the Labour Annual and Reformers' Year book between 1895 and 1908 and was actively publishing material on labour and socialist movements between 1895 and 1905. Although not particularly well known, Edwards was "a notable Socialist pamphleteer" and learned about Socialism through his own experiences of industrial labour conditions. The collection was purchased by the Library.
