Handwritten notes and related papers of talks given by Councillor Hunter at conferences and meetings. Background material on nuclear-free zones, and the United Nations SSD-2. There is a small file of peace march photographs, probably intended for use in QPS publications.
Bradford Councillor Colin Hunter was instrumental in the City’s decision to declare itself a nuclear-free zone in 1981. He also set up, and chaired, the Peace Action Group, which monitored the zone. Further details about the zone and the group can be found in the Cwl BPAG collection description.
Councillor Hunter was also active in Quaker organisations working for peace during the 1980s, particularly the Northern Friends Peace Board and Quaker Peace and Service. He served on the East/West and Peace Committees of the latter.
Colin Hunter’s system of arrangement has been retained.
