Consists of receipts and payments, entries relate mainly to corn and livestock and labour payments 1898-1920; labour payments, includes at rear brief record of payments for special services such as steam ploughing and thatching 1899-1923

Administrative / Biographical History

The donor's grandfather farmed at Slimcroft Farm, Blewbury, Berkshire; his father took possession of Manor Farm, East Hagbourne, where the donor was born. His brother occupies a farm in Wales, where the family of the donor's wife (a teacher) also farmed. Her grandparents were of Lincolnshire stock. In the 19th century Manor Farm included 20 acres of hop-fields; the hop-chimney near the farm still exists.
