Scope and Content

A collection of albumen prints by an unknown photographer. The prints were originally in an album with a printed title page reading 'Charles Potter, Government Printer, presented by C.A. Goodchap, Commissioner of Railways'. Some of the pages have decorative designs round the mount, but only a few have captions, and the following details have been derived from various sources. Plates 21-25 have not been researched in the same detail as plates 1-24 and, unless otherwise stated, they are approximately 340 x 262 mm and in good condition, apart from slight fading chiefly along the bottom and at the outer edge.

Physical Characteristics and/or Technical Requirements

The original album was disbound following water damage and the prints were transferred to a special portfolio with the printed title page included. The water damage has stained a few mounts, but the prints are generally in good condition.
