Scope and Content

Papers of the family of Jones and Pughe-Jones of Ynysgain, Cricieth, Caernarfonshire, 1501-[c. 1955], including deeds, mostly relating to the Cricieth area and to Merionethshire, 1501-1890; and an account book, 1614-1918.

Administrative / Biographical History

Dorothea Pughe-Jones lived at the turn of the 20th century. She wrote a handbook on the history of Wales and was awarded a prize at the Royal National Eisteddfod of Merthyr Tydfil in 1901. Ynysgain, Cricieth, Caernarfonshire had been in the possession of the Jones and Pughe-Jones family since the 17th century.
