Administrative / Biographical History

The Thoresby estate was purchased by Sir Robert Pierrepont, 1st Earl of Kingston-upon-Hull, in 1633. He presided over a period of expansion and consolidation of the family estates, and purchased the manor and advowson of Fledborough in 1626. It remained in the Pierrepont family's ownership until the late 20th century.
