Scope and Content

Includes transcripts and notes of interviews with Watergate protagonists; Watergate television series (1994) correspondence, scripts, notes; drafts of "Watergate: the corruption of American politics and the fall of Richard Nixon" by Fred Emery (Jonathan Cape, 1994), research correspondence, publicity.

Administrative / Biographical History

Fred Emery was born in Essex and attended Bancroft's School. He became a foreign correspondent and, amongst many assignments, he covered the Vietnam War. Fred Emery worked for The Times and was its chief Washington correspondent for seven years during the Watergate era. He later presented Panorama on BBC television.
