A bookplate from a book presented by the National Library of Wales to the Education Department (Celtic Section) at Ruhleben Camp, Germany, 1915, for the use of Welsh civilian prisoners interned there.

Papers, 1915-1918, deriving from the time David Evans spent in Ruhleben camp near Berlin as a civilian prisoner are in NLW ex 2803. The papers include leaflets printed by the camp’s press advertising Welsh lessons taught by him, lectures and social events. The camp school was established in 1915 and David Evans was the head of Celtic studies. NLW ex 2495 relates to the period Captain Rowland Humphreys (born 1879) spent in the camp.
