Joseph Fisher was one of 17 proprietors of Birks Mill, Almondbury. The mill was part of the Dartmouth estate and was leased to Fisher & Co for 26 years. The premises consisted of a large stone floor and slate, scribbling, slubbing and fulling mill of three floors. there was also an engine house, store room and dyehouse
