Administrative / Biographical History

Humphrey Jones ('Bryfdir', 1867-1947) was a Merionethshire quarryman and poet. From the age of 12 he worked as a quarryman in Blaenau Ffestiniog. He wrote poetry and competed in eisteddfodau from an early age, winning many bardic chairs and crowns. He was also well known as an eisteddfod compere. He died on 22 January 1947. Eglwys y Rhiw was a Calvinistic Methodist Church in Blaenau Ffestiniog, Merionethshire, founded in 1856.
