Administrative / Biographical History

George Ordish studied agriculture and economics at the University of London. In 1952 he wrote Undertaken Harvest which was the first book to look at the economics of pest damage to crops. He worked for the industry, the United Nations and the Ministry of Overseas Development as an economic entomologist. In 1960 along with the Royal Society of Arts he helped instigate the John Curtis Lectures on pest control which were named after a Victorian pioneer in this field.
