Administrative / Biographical History

Ashley Jackson is a watercolour artist. Born in 1940, he was brought up in Barnsley and opened his first gallery in 1963. In 1967 he became a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He opened a gallery in Holmfirth in the 1960s, and has written a number of books about the practice of art and hosted a number of TV series about the same, including 'A Brush with Ashley' which ran for 9 years in the 1990s. His interest is in the countryside of Yorkshire.
