Christmas Evans, 1766-1838, Baptist minister, was born on Christmas day in Llandysul, Cardiganshire. He was ordained in 1789 and became the minister of Cil-dwrn Chapel in Llangefni, Anglesey where he stayed until 1826. He has been described as one of the three giants of the Welsh pulpit in the golden age of preaching
Further manuscript material relating to Christmas Evans is held at the National Library of Wales. Several published works have appeared on the subject of this extraordinary character, the most recent being Christmas Evans aCHapos;r ymneilltuaeth newydd, 1991 by D. Densil Morgan.
