Scope and Content

The Rev. John Frere, Thomas Ivatt, Robert Ivatt, Francis Mann, and John Male, five of the Commissioners for draining the fens of Cottenham, Rampton, and Willingham, by an Act of 5 Vict. Grant to George Richard Philips, esq., of 12 Hill Street, Berkeley Square, Msex and to the Ven. Charles Musgrave, D.D., Archdeacon of Craven and Vicar of Halifax, Yorks. Such proportion of the taxes levied under the Act as shall repay their loan of £500 with interest at 4%. Signed by the five Commissioners. Witnessed by Ellis E. Wrinch, clerk to Messrs. Lunn and Francis, solicitors, Camb. Receipt of the £500 in discharge of the mortgage, Jan. 1872, signed on back by W.P. Musgrave and C.B. Musgrave. Witnessed by William Henry Brayshaw, Curate of Halifax; Vernon Musgrave, Hascombe Rectory, Surrey; William Tilley, Groom, Hascombe. On back: Registered, Nov. 11, 1842 by Francis J. Gunning, Clerk to the Commissioners.
