Administrative / Biographical History

This study was compiled through the South Wales Miners' Library at the University of Wales Swansea during 1975-1976 by Charles Parker, who held a Welsh Tinplate Labour Trust Junior Fellowship.

The study focuses on the recorded memoirs of the 1926 General Strike, and more specifically of a comparative study of the attitudes in South Wales during industrial action in 1926 and 1975-1976. 'The Big Hewer' was a radio ballad produced by Charles Parker, Ewan MacColl and Peggy Seeger for the BBC.

Hewer is another name for a collier.
