Administrative / Biographical History

Rev Ernest Raymond Gaskill retired as vicar of Christ Church, Doncaster in 1982 after being incumbent there since 1966. He had been assistant curate of St Hilda, Shiregreen, Sheffield from 1941-1943, All Saints, Wath (1943-1945), Holy Redeemer, Clerkenwell (1946) and St Edward, Perivale, in the parish of Holy Cross Greenford (1946-1953). In 1953, he became vicar of Goldthorpe where he served until 1962. In the following year, he was vicar of St Monica, Mampong, Ghana. From 1964 to 1966 he was vicar of St Cuthbert, Birkby, Huddersfield. The papers catalogued here reflect many of the stages of his career from student to his final parish.
