Administrative / Biographical History

The Glassalt Estate was situated about two and a half miles west of Myddfai. It was the home of the Family of Owen descended from Elystan Glodrudd. The last of the family in the male line was Charles Owen who died without issue on the 28th December 1784 and gave all of his estate to Thomas Lewis, a son of his mother’s first cousin. From the early 19th cent. Glassalt Fawr and its demesne lands was let to farming tenants.
