Comprises research notes and press cuttings on well known Welsh people, their lives, homes and burial places etc., compiled by Thomas Roberts. Also includes the authors' correspondence relating to the use and possible publication of this material.

Administrative / Biographical History

Thomas Roberts of New Barnet, Hertfordshire was born on 24 November 1850, the son of John Roberts of Henllan, Denbighshire, north Wales. On leaving school in 1866 he served a five year apprenticeship in Liverpool and afterwards spent all of his working life with the firm of American Bankers, Messrs Brown Stupley & Co. of London. Throughout his life he made many trips around north Wales and London, researching material on the subject of well known Welsh people, their lives, homes and burial places. He retired from his banking position in 1920.
