Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The first donation of papers was received among photograph albums, loose photographs, antiquarian notes and sketches, and newspaper cuttings mainly relating to the Ackland and Allen families of Pembrokeshire c.1850-1930 which were transferred to Pembrokeshire Record Office. Many of these records appear to derive from Florence Allen, daughter of Thomas Allen of Freestone, Pembrokeshire. Florence Allen married Sir Thomas Mansel Franklen (1840-1928), clerk of the peace for Glamorgan and first clerk of Glamorgan County Council. The second donation relates mainly to the Ackland Allen family derived from Elgiva Mary Ackland-Allen, wife of F.L.M. Giles, and her daughter Elizabeth Giles.
