Scope and Content

Articles of agreement between John Stocker Freaks of Chatteris, farmer, and Margaret his wife, and John Warth of Manea, farmer. Warth pays Freaks #100 as an advance on the purchase price of #1,195 for property in Hive End and Burnsfield, manor of Chatteris, the balance to be paid on or before 6 Apr 1810. Freaks agrees to maintain the land, to allow the inclusion of fixtures in the sale, and to pay interest on the advance. 3 sides, signed and sealed by John Stocker Freaks, Margaret Freaks, and John Warth, witnessed by Thomas Sewell, duty stamps. Freaks also acknowledges payment of the advance on the same day. An endorsement calculates the total sum due to the Freaks, after interest on the #100 has been deducted, at #1,091 13s 4d.
