Scope and Content

This volume contains the Ktābā d-'Abd Mešiḥā, the letters, moral discourses and responsa of 'Abd Mešiḥā of Ḥirtā (ff 1-109); the Ktābā d-Reše, an exposition of the operation of providence, by Mār Isḥāq of Rannan Išo' (ff 110-183); and a treatise on the mysteries of the Church (ff 184-317).Folios 317 to 322 are blank, and a very brief colophon can be found on f 316v, indicating that f 323 is likely an addendum after the completion of the main text, albeit in a very similar hand. The text is in black ink with red used for titles and catchwords.According to a note on f 1r, the manuscript was copied in the Madenḥāyā script by Yūsef Bar Ta'ūmā of the village of Alqosh, Khormezd, Iran, as requested by Deacon Nemrūd Resam, likely in the 19th century. A note at the end of the second text, however, also in Madenḥāyā script, states that the text was copied by 'īsā bar Esha'yā at al-Qosh on 24 Tišri 1896.
