Administrative / Biographical History
The project was established to collate local memories, histories and reminiscences in Barkston Ash and Sherburn in Elmet, under the leadership of Dr Guy Woolley and Barbara Naylor. Local residents were approached and interviewed on cassette tape, the interviews being transcribed by Yvonne Whalley. Custodial History
The archive was created and collated 2000-2001 as part of a community history project in Barkston Ash and Sherburn in Elmet. Audio recordings were undertaken by the project team, as was research into the history of the community. The recordings were subsequently transcribed and published along with ancillary research in the 'Barkston Chronicles' publication. Community members also donated original archival material to the project.
