Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The cradle of the Williams family's estate was Caegoronwy in the parish of Llanaber, Merioneth. In the late 18th and 19th century the family acquired other properties including, by 1804, Bennar Fawr in the parish of Llanddwywe. The discovery of precious metals on the estate in the second half of the 19th century enabled the family to purchase other properties such as Bryntirion and Bryn Llewelyn in Ffestiniog but these were re-conveyed later and no documents relating to them have survived in this archive.
