The collection comprises one notebook and 15 leaves of correspondence and other loose papers. The collection is the product of Bernard Granger's research into his family history, conducted between 1921 and 1947. The research draws on family vaults, memorials, parish registers, Bibles and deeds. The correspondence is largely from clergymen in the East Midlands replying to Granger with details from memorials and registers etc. Much of this information has been copied over to the volume. The volume contains one family tree, 'Genealogical table of the family of Smith to which Mary, the wife of John Granger belonged'. The other people and families represented in the volume are:
Granger and Baldwin families of Nottingham; Chamberlin family of Annesby, Laughton, Radcliffe on Soar and Willoughby, Nottinghamshire, Stanton by Bridge, Derbyshire and Sileby, East Norton and Rampstone, Leicestershire; John Granger (1787-1837), Mary his wife (1791-1873) and their families; Rev.
