The Exchequer was the government department responsible for receiving and dispersing the public revenue.

Acquisition Information
The 1701-3 accounts were bought from W.J. Smith, bookseller of Brighton, in March 1897. The 1706-7 accounts were presented to the Library by Keith R. Maitland of Edinburgh in 1908.
