Administrative / Biographical History
These papers were found at 24 Church St., Beaumaris and belonged to Richard Jones [c. 1860] - [c. 1920]. They include earlier records of his family and in particular his mother, Ann, his wife, Ellen and children, Griff, Dorothy and Myfanwy. Many records are of the properties which Ann and Richard rented out to visitors in Beaumaris and to tenants mainly in Beaumaris, Bangor and Llanfairfechan. Richard Jones was a member of Beaumaris Town council from 1886, until 1905 and also served as deputy mayor. He was involved with several other local societies. The records also include those of the currier business of Richard Jones and other family businesses of Griffith Jones, grocer and leather dealer, Griffith Price Jones, grocer and currier; Griffith Jones, tanner, currier, general and leather merchant and Dr. Evans.
