Minutes, 1890 - 1972; correspondence, 1951 - 1959; visitors' books for Shelter Stone Hut, 1924 - 1963, Thistle Cottage (Inverey), 1907 - 1937, and Derry Lodge, 1952 - 1967; 5 boxes glass slides; album of photographs gifted to the club by Jock Lamb, 1976.

The Cairngorm Club was established in Aberdeen in 1887 to encourage mountain climbing in Scotland, with special reference to the Cairngorm group of mountains ... to procure and impart scientific, topographical and historical information about the Scottish mountains ... to consider the right of access to Scottish mountains ... and ... to issue a Journal or such other publications as may be considered advantageous to the Club. (Rules of the Cairngorm Club (Aberdeen, 1921)). As well as publishing its own journal, The Cairngorm Club Journal, it established a library for its members use, stocked with a wide selection of contemporary books and periodicals on all aspects of mountaineering, rock climbing, geology and topography. The club's archive and library are now both deposited in Special Libraries and Archives, University of Aberdeen, where the library is managed as one of several special book collections (ref. The Cairngorm Club library (ref. Cairngorm Club) is managed as one of several special book collections in Special Libraries and Archives, University of Aberdeen. Comprising c. 1150 volumes and over 40 periodical runs, the Library, which concentrates on all aspects of mountaineering with special relevance to Scotland, is still added to by purchases made by, and gifts made to, the Club. Although much of the stock dates from the last twenty years or so, the Library does hold some important 18th and 19th century topographical books, such as Taylor&Skinner's Survey and Maps of the Roads of North Britain or Scotland(London: D. Wilson&G. Nicol, 1776), George Robson's Scenery of the Grampian Mountains (London: Robson, 1814), and John Bristed's Pedestrian Tour through Part of the Highlands of Scotland (London: Wallis, 1803). Late Victorian and Edwardian mountaineering texts are well represented, and include many prepared by Edward Whymper. The periodical runs include Die Alpen, L'Echo des Alpes, the American Alpine Journal and The Canadian Alpine Journal. The guides and serial publications of the Scottish Mountaineering Club are also present, as are several sequences of the Cairngorm Club Journal itself.
