Administrative / Biographical History

The donor's forebear Walter Lyon moved from Balquharrage, near Glasgow, to Luton in 1884, apparently because the rent paid in Scotland was too high. The size of the farm was 376 acres; mixed soils; tenants to Madame de Falbe and, after 1904, to Julius Wernher
