Administrative / Biographical History
The National Amalgamated Iron Plate Workers' Society was formed in 1890. In 1910 it changed its name to the Galvanised Hollow-Ware, Sheet Metal Workers' and Braziers' Association. In that same year it affiliated to the National Amalgamated Sheet Metal Workers and Braziers and in 1920 it merged with other affiliates to form the National Union of Sheet Metal Workers and Braziers, although it kept its individual identity within the new union for some time.
