Scope and Content

A collection of typed copies of correspondence and a petition, relating to the 1926-1927 protest against attempts to partly close Penmorfa School near Porthmadog, Caernarfonshire.

Administrative / Biographical History

Caernarfon Local Education Authority in 1926 passed a resolution to transfer Standard II and upwards from Penmorfa School to Tremadoc Council School. This resulted in vigorous protests, an appeal to the M.P. for Caernarfonshire and an eventual compromise.

In 1944 the future of Penmorfa School was again placed in jeopardy as a result of the Education Act of that year and its application by the L.E.A.
