Administrative / Biographical History
Bernard Charles Lovatt was born in 1911. From 1930 to 1935, while serving as an apprenctice draughtsman with Premiere Gas Engine Company Limited, he studied at University College, Nottingham as an evening class student, taking courses in practical mathematics, engineering drawing, applied mechanics, and mechanics and heat. He is listed in the University registers (UCN S/4/19-22) as living at Station House, Trent, near Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire, and as having received his education at Sawley Road School. He later worked for a company called Charles Muntz, designing engines. In 1959 he went to live in Sweden and was Managing Director of Lucas Industries in Scandinavia, retiring from the company in 1974 to live in Florida, U.S.A. Bernard Lovatt died in 1992.
