Administrative / Biographical History
Thomas Alfred Buckley, M.Sc., Ph.D., F.R.I.C., was born in Yorkshire, and worked as a soils chemist for the Agricultural Department in Kuala Lumpur. He was a member of the Selangor volunteers in Malaya, 1928-1940, then transferred to the Local Defence Corps, comprised of mixed races. He later became a Lecturer in Chemistry at the Agricultural College, Njoro, Kenya. He was married to Sarah Hannah Buckley.
