Administrative / Biographical History

Trevor Austin studied Industrial Economics at the University of Nottingham, graduating in 1954. He was a resident of the Hugh Stewart Hall of Residence, and Chairman of the Liberal Society. He owned an Austin 7 car (maroon and black 1933 RP saloon which he purchased from a fellow student for £40). At the time, only a handful of students had cars and Trevor was much in demand for taxi rides. His car was even used to transport a 'whale' in the 1953 Carnival procession. The car would transport Austin and Ian Hunt (Chemistry, 1954) to and from their homes with trunks and suitcases on the back seat and a bicycle on the rear luggage carrier grid. The car was parked in the Hugh Stewart sheds at night and in the Trent courtyard during the day.
