Scope and Content

The Brand family correspondence collection (693/1-29), 1939-1947, originates from Max Brand's family in Vienna, mostly from Olga, his sister, but also from his father and mother; the latter is usually written in Sütterlin script.It deals almost exclusively with details of family life. There is very little which sheds light on general conditions as they obtained for Jews in Vienna during this period.

The Brand family were a Jewish family from Vienna. Max Brand came to Great Britain in 1939. Nothing is known of the fate of family members.
