Scope and Content

These documents had originally been collected by Mr. D.J. Sharp, post master of Chinnor. After his death, they were given to Oxfordshires Archives in 1980 and given the Accession Number 1779. Two documents concerning property at Cowley and Tillingden were transferred to the Greater London Record Office in 1981, where they were assigned the Accession Number 1628.

Most of the documents concern the King family of Chinor, but there are also documents concerning the Poor Law, a guide to the Window Tax, and a deed concerning the purchase of the site of

the meeting house of the congregational Church at Chinnor.

Recatalogued in June 1994.
