Administrative / Biographical History

Roma Irene Brookes was born in 1916 and died in 1990. She studied Modern and Medieval Languages at Girton College from 1935-1938. After Girton she taught Modern Languages. Her first post as a Headmistress was at Yarmouth High School. She returned to Cambridge to become Headmistress of Cambridgeshire High School for Girls 1961-1976, steering the school through the transition to a sixth-form college.
