Administrative / Biographical History
Richard Bulkeley Phillipps Grant (1801-1857) became heir to the Picton Estates in 1823 and assumed the surname Philipps, becoming Richard Bulkeley Phillipps Philipps. He was created Baron Milford of Picton Castle in 1847. He died in 1857, and the estates passed to his half-brother, the Rev. James Henry Alexander Philips (formerly Gwyther) (1814-1875).
