Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Harley Granville Barker began his stage career as an actor in a provincial company, before first appearing in London in 1892. He went on to have a career on the stage, acting with many well known names such as Ben Greet. He was associated with the Stage Society and later moved into theatre management, working at the Duke of York's Theatre, the Savoy, and St James's among others. He also worked on the adaptation of plays.

This collection is available for consultation in the V&A Department of Theatre and Performance's Reading Room, which is located at Blythe House, 23 Blythe Rd, Olympia, London, W14 0QX. Given by The Garrick Club to the BTMA and thence to the Theatre Museum.
