- 106 boxes; 42 cubic feet Most letters have been microfilmed, with a random selection of the original letters kept as a sample. The rest have been destroyed.
Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Between 1981 and 1987, the Daily Mirror newspaper passed to the Mass-Observation Archive all the letters sent in by its readers. Many concern financial and investment advice; there is a wealth of material documenting public response to the Miners' Strike (1984).
Access Information
The collection is open to all bona fide researchers, by appointment only, telephone or email a week in advance of your intended visit. Researchers must abide by the conditions protecting the collection.
