Scope and Content

REPORT to the General Board of Health, on a preliminary inquiry 1850 into the sewerage, drainage and supply of water, and the sanitary condition of the inhabitants of the borough of Llanelly, by George Clark, Superintending Inspector.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Public Health Act 1848 established the General Board of Health, which was responsible for advising on public health matters such as epidemics and disease prevention. It was also empowered with establishing and managing local boards of health.
