The collection contains a slim volume of manuscript accounts for the Nottingham Ratepayers' Association. It records income from membership subscriptions and interest and expenses such as printing, stationery and the use of the Guildhall for meetings. The accounts are complete from November 1860 to January 1862.
The remainder of the volume has been re-used for other purposes. Following on from the Ratepayers' accounts, there is an account headed 'No. 1, Mr Bailey', apparently used to record interest payments, 1865-1869. A further four similar leaves have been cut out.
The inside cover and first leaf have been re-used as a rough account book of expenditure on frocks, hats, trimmings, a 'bird cage', and mending boots. The name Sarah War is mentioned, and the date 6 February 1867.
