Administrative / Biographical History

The Universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde Air Squadron was originally formed as the Glasgow University Air Squadron on 13 Jan 1941, its focus being pre-entry training of University of Glasgow students for the Royal Air Force. The Squadron was renamed the Universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde Air Squadron after the Royal College of Science and Technology became Strathclyde University in 1965.

Today the Squadron accepts students from the University of Stirling, Glasgow School of Art, Glasgow Caledonian University and The University of the West of Scotland as well as University of Glasgow and Strathclyde students and operates from Glasgow Airport.
