Administrative / Biographical History
Sir George Nugent [formerly Fennings] (1757-1849), army officer. Served as Lieutenant-Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Jamaica (1801-1806).
Admiral Sir John Thomas Duckworth (1748-1817), naval officer. He assumed the chief command at Jamaica and was later appointed Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Newfoundland (1810-1812).
