Administrative / Biographical History

Ronald Ross was born in 1898. He was ordained in about 1929 and became minister of St Ann's Well Road Congregational Church in Nottingham where he remained for 41 years. On his retirement in 1970, Rev. Ross became minister emeritus of Castle Gate Congregational Church in Nottingham and subsequently of St Andrew's with Castle Gate United Reformed Church. An 80th birthday party was held for him at Gregory Boulevard United Reformed Church Nottingham and a year later, a family party was held at St Andrew's with Castle Gate to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the Reverend's ordination. Rev. Ross died in 1980.

Details about Rev. Ross's ministry survive in the archives of Castle Gate Congregational Church (CU).

The collection was brought together by Frank Taylor of Mapperley, Nottingham, the executor of the Rev. Ross. Taylor was secretary for St Ann's Well Road Congregational Church for 17 years during the ministry of Rev. Ross. He apparently held a similar role at St Andrew's with Castle Gate United Reformed Church until at least 1979.
