Records: Port of Beaumaris Custom and Excise

Records: Ships fees and deeds books, 1906 - 1988; note relating to the lease of certain rights of foreshore at Rhosneigr, opposite Braich Parlwr, 1897.

Under the Merchant Shipping Act 1835, ports were identified which were required to maintain registers of ships and seamen. Beaumaris, Anglesey, was the designated port for North Wales, but in 1841 Caernarfon was added and became the main port of registry in the area. In 1874, responsibility for registers of ships and seamen passed to the Registrar General. Separate records continued to be maintained of Custom and Excise tolls.
