Administrative / Biographical History

'The Surrey Clergy Relief Society for the relief of necessitous Clergymen within the Archdeaconries of Surrey, Southwark and Kingston-upon-Thames, and of their Widows and Orphans', was created by the union in 1875 of 'The Society for the relief of the poor Widows and Orphans of the Clergy, and of the necessitous living Clergy and their Children, within the Deaneries of Ewell and Southwark' founded in 1763 and 'The Stoke Deanery Charity' for similar purposes.
