Administrative / Biographical History

Established in January 1859.

According the rules of 1890 the Club's objectives were:

1. The advancement of Practical and Scientific Agriculture in the County, the increase of Produce, and improvement of Farm Stock.

2. The diffusion of Agricultural information, and the promotion of social intercourse and friendly feeling among the Agriculturists of the District.

3. The welfare and amelioration of the social condition of the Agricultural Labourers.

The means the Club employed to meet these objectives were: meetings for exhibition of produce, implements etc (i.e. agricultural shows); ploughing matches; inspection of farms; receiving and exchanging reports and essays; circulating books and pamphlets; promoting discussion amongst the members.

The Earl of Kintore was the Club's first president.
