Edward Williams of Ty Gwyn, near Talsarnau, Merionethshire was born in 1851. He was the master of several ships including the Betsey of Porthmadog, Glanavon of Porthmadog, Nanhoron of Caernarfon and the Surpass of Grangemouth.
