    • 2 vols. (101 ff. and 114 ff.) Both volumes bound in matching contemporary calf, with bookplate of Randle Jackson pasted inside front cover of each. Written in two hands, one apparently Wormington's autograph.

First volume: f.1: blank and detached; f.2r: inscription, "Presented by the Marchioness De Crequy to Randle Jackson"; ff.2v-3v: blank; ff.4r-72r: "Sir Fantastick: or The metamorphosed beau. In four cantos. An hudibrastick poem", with quasi-title-page and marginal notes, some cropped by binder; ff.72v-74v: blank; ff.74r-100v: three further long poems, ff.84 and 101 being blank. Second volume: f.1r: inscription identical to that in first volume; ff.1v-3r: inscription, "Ex libris Hugonis Wormington TCD Anno Dom 1715"; ff.3v-6v: "Aristotelis artis rhetoricae commentarius", in Latin prose; transcription of Hamlet's soliloquy "To be or not to be" headed "Futurity"; f.8r: moral maxims in Latin and English; ff.8v-9r: blank; ff.9v-49v: "A contraction of the lives and characters of the ancient Graecian poets 1716 part I [-part II] by Hugh Wormington, Limerick", in prose with title-page to each part and concluding table signed by Wormington; ff.50r-54r (verso blank): miscellaneous notes on artists' materials, grammar and Latin verse; ff.55r-104r (verso blank): "Poems & translations by Hugh Wormington AD 1718" with title-page; ff.105r-114r (verso blank): verse letter signed "Gilbert" to "Dear Dan", "Bull Ally, June 19 1723".

Administrative / Biographical History

Hugh Wormington, born in Dublin but later of Limerick, was the son of Charles Wormington. He entered Trinity College Dublin in 1714 at the age of 18, graduating B.A. in 1718 and M.A. in 1721.
